حضّ البابا لاوون الرابع عشر الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين في اتصال هاتفي على القيام بـ"بادرة من أجل السلام" في أوكرانيا، حسبما أفاد الفاتيكان الأربعاء.

وأشار الكرسي الرسولي الى أن البابا وجّه في اتصاله الهاتفي الأول مع بوتين منذ بدء حبريته في أيار/مايو، "نداء إلى روسيا للقيام ببادرة من أجل السلام، وأكد أهمية الحوار من أجل تحقيق اتصالات إيجابية بين الطرفين والسعي إلى حلول للنزاع".
