قالت مديرة صندوق النقد الدولي كريستالينا جورجيفا الجمعة، إن الصندوق "يدرس بجدية" زيادة محتملة لبرنامج القروض لمصر البالغ 3 مليارات دولار نتيجة الصعوبات الاقتصادية الناجمة عن العدوان الإسرائيلي على قطاع غزة.

وأضافت جورجيفا في مقابلة أجرتها معها رويترز، على هامش قمة التعاون الاقتصادي لدول آسيا والمحيط الهادئ، أن الصراع "يدمر" سكان غزة واقتصادها وله "آثار خطيرة" على اقتصاد الضفة الغربية المحتلة، ويشكل أيضا صعوبات للدول المجاورة مصر ولبنان والأردن من خلال الخسائر في إيرادات السياحة وارتفاع تكاليف الطاقة.

وترى جورجيفا أن تأثير الحرب على ‏الاقتصاد العالمي محدود للغاية ولكنه قد يزيد في حالة وقوع صراع طول الأمد.‏
